Job Title: National Police Chiefs’ Council - Researcher

Salary: £28,511 to £30,504 plus a location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £28,511 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £30,504 will be via incremental progression.

Location: 10 Victoria Street, London, with flexibility to work remotely.

Contract – Fixed Term contract to 31st March 2024 (with the potential for further extension subject to funding and performance)

THE NATIONAL POLICE CHIEFS’ COUNCIL (NPCC)

Serious Organised Crime Portfolio

The Serious Organised Crime (SOC) Portfolio is a new addition to the NPCC remit, to enable a national cohesive and directed approach to tackling serious organised crime. The post holder will be instrumental in the strategic development of the SOC Portfolio ensuring collaboration and participation nationally and across governmental bodies.

THE ROLE

The role forms part of the Network Operations Capability (NOC) within the NPCC Serious & Organised Crime (SOC) Portfolio. The Researcher role holder will provide specialist professional guidance and services at a national level, concerning research methods, to fulfil the NPCC SOC Portfolio objectives.

The successful candidate would be part of an innovative team and would need to have the following experience, knowledge and skills:

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of data security and integrity principles, being able to record, manage and share sensitive or personal information securely.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of report writing and presentation skills.
  • To demonstrate experience in a research environment where it has been necessary to undertake a range of research projects.
  • Demonstrate experience of working in a confidential and sensitive environment

VETTING

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) at MV and SC level before taking up the post.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Interviews will aim to take place on 13th and 14th July.

Occasional national travel may be required. Travel expenses will be paid if location allowance is not being received, or when travel falls outside of the home to work journey. NPCC will pay for overnight accommodation if required.
